Take a stroll down rue des Rosiers in the Marais, the renowned Jewish/gay district at the heart of Paris, and stop at l'As du Falafel where you will find the best falafel sandwiches in the city, made at the speed of light. Eat inside or get them to go and walk around the trendy Marais for a cheap, delicious lunch in the most exciting district in Paris. If you're still hungry, try some of the delectable Jewish pastries in any of the various pastry shops in the area.

On Sunday, when most of Paris still asleep or closed for the day, the Rue des Rosiers is a happening spot.
If you'd prefer to eat your falafel seated, Chez Marianne is your place. The fried aubergine (eggplant) is divine.
As for pastries, Chez Finkelstein is my favorite, specializing in baked goods in the Eastern European tradition.
