According to hagiographical texts, as a young woman Saint Genviève saved the city of Paris from a 5th-century attack by the Huns. The remains of the saint are housed in a shrine in the Saint Etienne du Mont church, just behind the Pantheon. It's a pilgrimage site today, but doesn't get nearly the traffic Notre Dame does, so pop in if you're in the neighborhood and while you're there, walk around the rest of the Romanesque church, which was built from the 13th to the 17th centuries.
