Off the beaten path of the Marais neighborhood's polished, trendy hang-outs is a tiny little bar serving dirt-cheap beers on tap with plenty of anti-establishment attitude.
The Politburo is a kitschy space reminiscent of the Cold War era, with newspaper clippings and Soviet symbols adorning the walls. The sounds are contemporary, however, as indie rock tunes flow from the speakers and the modern-day intelligentsia discusses today's politics and culture. It also serves as an exhibition space, promoting local artists by displaying their works throughout.
A small candle-lit lounge area in the back, behind the exposed wooden rafters and wall supports, gives you the romantic impression of meeting in a secret cellar.

4th arrondissement

We've made this one of our late night drop in spots and have affectionately renamed it the "mullet-buro" because of the irresistible hipster magnetism.
The decor is definitely mid WW2 Stalingrad so no prom dresses...and make sure you have your tetanus shots before grabbing some of the exposed wood throughout the small bar.
The nails aren't the only thing in the Poliburo to give up lockjaw - the music is off the chain. The bartenders are DJs first and drink peddlers second and as such the music is always tight - perfect for the 1-2am wind down.
I don't know if it comes thru but I love this place, its character, clientele and charm - or lack thereof. Some of the best times I've had in Paris were at this small hole in the wall bar.
