In the heart of the Marais neighborhood, near the eastern end of the Rue des Rosiers sits a funky tearoom filled with mismatched chairs, wooden tables, and an eclectic mix of posters and other adornments collected here and there. Le Loir dans la Théière ("The dormouse in the Teacup") is the bohemian alternative to the more well-known Mariage Frères, with a friendly staff and a spacious dining room. Don't be fooled by the casual ambiance, however: the tea here is still serious stuff, and more than a couple signs warn you that laptops are forbidden. But you should be savoring your dessert and the company of your date anyway.
