The Gay Pride parade (officially now called the “Marche des Fiertés”) has been an institution in Paris for over twenty years, and is widely attended as a huge street party for everyone, whether you’re gay, bi or straight, young or old. Tons of different organizations sponsor different floats or buses, many featuring wild costumes. The music is usually high-volume techno, and everyone, on the floats and in the street, can’t help but dance along. There’s been some criticism that the parade has turned into more of a raver show and that it’s not representative of the gay community, but for what it’s worth, there’s no denying that it’s great fun. It takes place for a whole days around the end of June, so check for the announced date and course.
