Parc de la Villette is more like a museum than a typical green Parisian park and is part of the music and science museum. There is much to see, such as the “cinematic tour” through ten different themed gardens including gardens of mirrors, dunes, mists, bamboo, movement, islands, balance, childhood fears, dragons, and shadows. There are also concert halls, theaters, a canal. Come for the culture or just laze about on the grass. Either way, you will enjoy your time in this interesting park.

Great for kids. There's a "retired" French naval submarine you can walk through and a geodesic dome with an IMAX theater inside. The neighboring Cite des Sciences is also a winner.
During the summer, performing arts groups/troupes and others make a playground of the place and the open air movies never fail to pull a crowd.
For those of the masochistic persuasion, the Cafe de la Musique (inside the park) has for some special reason been graced with probably the rudest wait staff in Paris.
Highly recommended for a lazy sunny afternoon.
